Yesterday I listened to a song called "Lemme See" by Usher and Rick Ross. In this song, there was a specific line that popped out. It stated "Chanel hoodie on/ Lookin' like Trayvon Martin/ George Zimmerman when I'm on it" When I heard this line I couldn't believe that he said something like this. I felt like he was being offensive towards Trayvon's death because to me he said that he looked like Trayvon when he wore the hoodie, but he looks like George when he's on it. I felt like he had no respect towards his death at all because who would state something like that about something that happened to a young innocent African American teenage boy? Not in memory of him, but just comparing how he looks to each of them. Then I wondered how Trayvon's parents have felt when they heard this song. What did they say? How did they react? But then what could they have said? A famous person is gonna over power a middle class person. Then again do famous artists have the right to state whatever they want, when they want? What are the consequences when someone does something like this? Many artists get into other people's lives besides their own. They never really have a consequence for being so offensive towards others.
