Over
the weekend I heard on the news about a gay club in Oak Park being down. The owner of the bar has stated: "I know it
was a hate crime," he also states that "I opened this club 3 months
ago." I tried looking for the interview, but had no luck. So I ran into a
video that is called "Gay hate crime faces & stories" this video has
interested me because this video proves that no one can be unique in
this world. But, it was meant for everyone to be an independent, unique
individual. Now we look around and see everyone is a splitting image of
the idol they want to be. The world wasn't meant to be like this at all. Victims of hate crimes are innocent people with their own ideas of what they wanted
out of life. They stood for what they believed in and it eventually got
them killed. Many LGBTQ individuals have been tortured, abused, and
bullied sine the 1900's. But what crosses my mind when I think of this is
how could someone grow so much hate towards them? Who said they had to
be the one's that were judged? Did they deserve this? Honestly, I
believe that it starts off with one then that one teaches others to hate as well.
And then it leads to this: In the
video there is a woman named Gisberta, she was a transgender that was tortured and
sexually abused then murdered. By who? You would NEVER guess. She was
murdered by 14 boys between the ages 10 and 16 in 2006. What are the
adults of these children teaching them? How do they know to hate a
person's sexuality or race? Do you think that the abuse that
has caused people to kill themselves or be murdered for their race,
sexuality, religion, etc. will ever be stopped? I am straight.
I still believe that an individual should be able to live the life they
want without being judged based on there race, gender, sexuality, or religion
because sooner or later everyone's gonna die. But the people that cause
these murders are already dead because they have to live with the things
that they have caused because of hate. It needs to
stop.
So, I support the LGBTQ society and will stand for them because
everyone should be equal.

I worked at the club, Velvet Rope Ultra Lounge, that got burned down. I'm still upset about the ordeal.
